NFL Wild Card Results #1
At the start of the season our playoff picks: AFC PIT, NE, IND, DEN, BAL, SD. NFC DAL, CAR, SEA, CHI, TB, NYG. We hit on 8 of 12, missing on KC for DEN, NYJ for PIT, NO for TB & PHI for CAR.
So far this weekend ATS 2-0, SU 1-1
X KC 8 @IND(-6.5) 23: Our Pick: IND to WIN and cover -6.5
"on the road KC avg only 106 ypg rushing and allowing 41 sacks... In plain English, in their last 3 home games the Colts are running and defending the run better than the Chefs are in their last 3 road games."
The Colt ground game (188 yds rushing) and defense (4 sacks & 44 rush yds allowed) stepped up and delivered. Total net 435 vs 126, 1st downs 28 vs 7, TOP 39 vs 21.
The Chefs got their first 1st down with 3:38 left in the 3rd quarter. 3 Colt TO's and a 1st down at the Colt 9 yielded zero points and could not help KC's season ending offensive ineptitude.
A good team would have beaten Indy in this game. Indy had multiple red zone failures as Manning threw 3 ints to turn what should have been a complete blowout, into a much closer affair.
Next week, the same type of unimpressive offensive performance on the road vs the Raven D, and the Colts will be lucky to score 3 points in what could be a Raven blowout.
X DAL(+3) 20@SEA 21: Our pick: DAL to WIN and beat the spread +3
Both teams limped into this game and the Squaks backed out with a W. Last year in SEA, the Pokes missed a FG and threw a last second int resulting in a game winning FG for the Squaks.
This year, on 8 critical penalties, the Pokes killed 2 of their own drives and made 10 pts possible for SEA. The Poke D held the Squaks to 92 yds and 2.9 ypc.
Inept DAL play calling blew a 20-13 lead with 6:30 left after a beautiful goal line stand.
Attempting to pass at their own 1 yd line, the Pokes fumbled into the end zone for a safety. This ultimately led to the Squaks game winning TD after the kick from the 20.
Pouring salt into their own wound, the Pokes botched a game winning 9 yd FG with 1:20 on the clock. Not trying to be outdone, 2 Squak ints led to 6 Poke pts and a special teams breakdown allowed a 93 yd KO ret TD.
Both teams were unworthy of a W and tried their best to give this game away. Da Bears are licking their chops, rooting for PHI and waiting for the inept and feeble Squaks to come to Chitown next week.
