Standard Chartered Plc, the U.K.'s sixth-biggest bank by market value...

abandoned a plan to bail out its $7.15 billion Whistlejacket Capital Ltd. structured investment vehicle,

to date, making it the largest bank-run SIV to collapse because of "continuing deterioration" in markets.

HSBC Holdings Plc and Citigroup Inc. led banks bailing out their SIVs, and these two teetering creditors now want to bail out #2 guarantor Ambac.
