Confronting an IP is one of the biggest challenges that all participants in today's marketplace might face. Recognizing change, requires separating the wheat from the chaff and the majors from the minors.
Some subtleties, and I will not mention all of them... aside from the trade-able downswing from 2134 commencing 48 hrs prior, halt to Grexit and the Chinese implosion, many of the fifteen stocks which have been responsible for the last year of SP500 gains, missed or issued declining forward guidance, and were punished.
Of the companies reporting, many tech, some large, (AAPL, auto #s, UTX, FCS, LLTC) and mostly those that were punished, in their reports... evidence of a widespread demand reset from China is mounting. We can't buy it and neither can they. Read into that, what you wish.
Casting a shadow over this and any other subtleties, the massive contraction in RR which comes at a repeated bi annual or seasonal inflection point. However, the previous YOY % delta of this magnitude took almost 24 months and was under much more favorable economic conditions.
Yes, economic contractions can be sudden and violent. While in an already zombie-like, comatose, stagnant or febrile state, which this dead man walking market and economy qualify for, anything of this magnitude might result in a flashpoint to singularity. Which gives us pause for concern as an economic blackhole will not be a pretty thing to witness.
These and other subtleties have been noted and we now look for repeated confirmations of the changes in the conformation. Some are good listeners, some not, some tone deaf, some not, some using rose colored glasses, some not, some blind, some not, some tactile, some not, some dim, some not.
