Above a political cartoon that went viral during Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, regarding POTUS 45 US Supreme Court appointee Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The depiction is of Lady Justice blindfolded and pinned down as a man’s hand covers her mouth, which is how Ford described an alleged sexual assault by Kavanaugh dating back to 1982. The cuffs on the man’s shirt bear the Republican elephant.
Is the attachment of “Republican” cuff-links to the Member of Congress assaulting Lady Justice in this cartoon, disgraceful and indefensible? As it represents the testimony of the victim, not really.
And does this type of partisan "opinion" add to the divisive toxic poison sickening us all? Perhaps, as all partisan BS does.
And regarding the question already posed, should the subject of sexual assault of women ever be used for partisan purposes or partisan gain? Moving West, we will defer to the US Library of Congress...
The United States Library of Congress preserves United States’ cultural artifacts and materials of historical importance to the Congress and the American people.
The Library has asked to include MacKinnon’s cartoon as part of its historic collection of Internet material related to the women’s and gender studies web archive.
