Sports Time Update
College Football
6 undefeated teams left. USC, UCLA, Georgia, Alabama, Texas & Virginia Tech. Unfortunately, we will probably have to suffer a team from the Crippled Sisters of the Elderly conference again in this years BCS.
Texas found a defense and Texas Tech shot themselves in the foot. The Longhorns face no-one the rest of the year. The season finale against A&M and conference championship should be anti climatic. Texas faced one worthy opponent this year @ Ohio State and managed a 3 point victory.
Georgia, Alabama & Virginia Tech should lose somewhere along the way, leaving Texas as the undefeated sacrificial lamb in the Rose Bowl.
Meanwhile, USC just keeps rolling along toward a three peat. The Brainsurgeons close with Cal, Fresno State and UCLA, looking to run the table into the Rose Bowl and another mismatched BCS Title game blowout victory.
NFL
In the NFC, after six games, with the best record and the least points scored against them 72, it appears Tampa Bay has the upper hand. We predicted they would surprise and rebound this year but so far Tampa has played a weak schedule.
Atlanta might have a say in the matter, and we still like Atlanta depending on Vick's status. It will be interesting to see how the Bucs and Falcons match up on 11/20 & 12/24. Until then we will keep a spot reserved for the Bucs in the playoffs, perhaps even a #1 or #2 seed.
Dallas, Philly, NY Giants, Carolina, Seattle and Chicago in the running for the remaining 4 playoff spots.
In the AFC, after six games, it appears that this is the year of the Colts. Down by 17 early to the Rams, the Colts proceeded to dissect St. Louis for 45 points and hold the Rams to 8 points through the final 3 quarters.
We predicted if the Patriots stumbled the Colts would ascend, the Colts have found a defense by allowing a league low 57 points.
The Cincinnati Bengals, one of our surprise picks, keep moving towards the #2 AFC slot at 5-1, allowing just 84 points on defense. A weak schedule has helped with the lone loss @ Jacksonville 23-20.
For the Bengals, this week Pittsburgh and 11/20 Indianapolis @ home, these matchups should show what they are really made of.
Denver, KC, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and New England in the running for the remaining 4 playoff spots.
MLB Playoffs
The Cards were eliminated by the hot and pesky Wild Card Strohs. The Stroh's are worn down and it showed in game 1.
The well rested White Sox took game 1 at home and continue to prove they are destiny's child to succeed the Red Sox.
Once again, next year to complete the trifecta the Cubs or Indians win it and it truly is the End of Days.
