Mileage, Moolah and Mullahs

The sabre rattling comments by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, at a rally in Tehran on Sunday, helped to drive US light crude prices up over $73 per barrel early this week.

If you make any mistake, definitely shipment of energy from this region will be jeopardised. You have to know this,” the Ayatollah said.

His comments were a departure for Iran, which has previously said that it would not use oil as a political weapon, despite controlling a quarter of the world’s crude exports and having the capacity to close the Straits of Hormuz in the Gulf.

Personally, I'm gettin real tired of the media spin and resulting speculative frenzy in the energy markets whenever Nigerian rebels stir or some Ayatollah opens his pie hole...

As of this year, Honda has ceased production of the 65mpg gasoline
hybrid Insight. With gasoline at 3$ per gallon why would Honda do such a thing?

Certain Naybob sources have proffered that sometime in the next two years Honda will begin production of a 100 mpg clean diesel hybrid 4 passenger Civic. Some partially revealing info
here and here.

For more info on other
clean diesel hybrids under development click here.

In the meantime, if your fortunate enough to be in the European market and don't want a hybrid, you can own a 65 mpg petrol or 80 mpg diesel
SMART car or an 80mpg Audi A2 1.2 Turbo Diesel.

And hopefully, sometime in the near future, VW will wake up and get their
1 litre per 100km gasoline concept car into production. Thats 235 mpg folks....

Necessity is the mother of invention... These are the kinds of technological advances necessary to lessen our dependence on the oil that comes from third world dictators, despots and mullahs.

Through laziness, poor voting choices and our moolah at the pump, said incumbent pack of jackals have been well funded and ascended to global power.

The time to cut off our dependance on their spigots and return them to whence they came is long overdue.
