NFL Championship Weekend & What Is G?

After posting 3-2 ATS & SU with wildcard & BCS, we manage to crawl to 5-4 ATS & 7-3 SU with our divisional picks.

As predicted, Baltimore cashed in on turnovers and the loss of the Titans leading rusher while the Eagles ended the G-mens back to back dreams.

The Steelers sent the Bolts packing, but did cover. Zona Cards surprised again by pancaking the Panthers.

Defense, and more defense... Steeler passing, rushing & defense looked rested & stellar vs the Bolts. The Ravens took a gift from the generous Titans.

After their brutal war with the Titans and 2 straight road wins, the Steelers defense, rushing attack and home field...

will prove too much for the beaten up and one dimensional ex Brown/Ravens. Yes, the NFL's #1 defense will beat their defensive divisional rival 3 times in one year.

Everything is not as it appears... As opposed to the regular season, the Zona Cards got here by running and defending the run well the last two weeks.

The Cards have shut down two top rushing attacks forcing Atlanta and Carolina to pass and collecting NINE combined turnovers.

The Falcon and Panther defenses were suspect to start with and made Zona's offense look awfully good.

Philly Cheese Steaks not running, nor defending the run well. Yet two road wins over two top rushing teams; Vikings and the GMen. How did they do it?

The devil is in the details, refer to the 2nd half drive charts on both games at NFL.com; now that's called a shut down closing defense.

Jim Johnson's blitz packages spell trouble for Warner, McNabb is no erratic Delhomme or young Private Ryan,

he will pick Zona's pourous secondary apart as the Eagle defense allows them to pull away in the 2nd half. These two put 68 on the board turkey day.

FYI: Over/Under we are 4-3-1 against the spread. More importantly, as previously stated here on 01/03/09 and four weeks prior to seasons end in person:

For a dark horse Super Bowl, we sense a Pennsylvania Turnpike or Beltway Bowl in the making. Philly vs Pittsburgh or Philly vs Baltimore.

This weeks picks spell a Turnpike Bowl:

PHI(-4) 31 @ ARI 16 UNDER 48
BAL 13 @ PIT 23(-6) OVER 33

Interesting Codicil: For all those who are wondering what is "G". The commercials narrated by Lil Wayne, withsports icons scrolled across the screen...

including Dwayne Wade, Derek Jeter, Bill Russell and Muhammed Ali. They're followed by three men in white masks and the commercial ends with a capital G.

So what's G? It's Gatorade.
