NFL Going to The Dog Killers Part II

Picking up where we left off upon Dog Killer Vick's reinstatement...

Apparently the NFL commissioner isn't the only clueless idiot in the league. From a Yahoo Sports Blog by Chris Chase...

According to Philadelphia Eagles players, the most courageous man on the team in 2009was one who started the year serving time in prison for an act of extreme cowardice.

The Eagles announced that Michael Vick was the 2009 winner of the Ed Block Courage Award, an honor given to a player who shows courage in the face of adversity.

Vick's teammates voted for the award, thus demonstrating how tone-deaf and out-of-touch NFL players are with reality.

Each year, the Ed Block Courage Awards honors those National Football League players who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.

The Ed Block Courage Award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model.

I'd be surprised if the awards founders intended for the honor to be given to someone doing community service as part of the terms of his parole...

or for showing courage in the face of reporters asking legitimate questions about federal crimes.

The Eagles' vote is not only a slap in the face to the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation, but to the other 31 players who won the award for their respective teams.

Adding Vick's name to the roll makes the award seem illegitimate and meaningless.

Apparently Philadelphia players confuse Vick handling dogfighting questions and booing with a measure of class as some sort of courage.

That Vick only got a chance to show this mild courageousness because of the extreme cowardice it takes to murder helpless animals isn't something that crosses their mind.

They confuse Vick's desperation with some sort of integrity.

The Nattering One muses... Bravo and Kudos, not to Dog Killer Vick, the NFL, its ball-less commissioner...

or the Eagles characterless and brain-less multi millionaire players...

Kudos to Chris Chase and all those who agree, as I do, I see absolutely no reason to celebrate Vick's character, now or ever.

I don't see doing time, getting out, and signing a fat contract to do little on the field as being an act of great courage.

The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of neglected children and ending the cycle of abuse.

The man was convicted of bankrolling the dogfighting operation, and he admitted taking part in drowning and hangings of defenseless animals.

Vick also admitted to throwing smaller breed dogs into the ring to watch them be killed by his fighting dogs.

Does Vick sound like the kind of man deserving of this award? We see through the thin veneer of a repenting parolee, and see him for what he truly is.

In fact, Vick's demonstrated complete lack of character should have and would have landed him a lifetime ban...

that is, from a commissioner and league that had any brains or balls. Pity and shame that many idolize these supposed role models...

and the league itself as an organization representative of integrity.

The NFL condones wife beaters, suspected murderers, animal killers and drug users that have been busted several times in violation of the league substance abuse policy.

Their message resonates loud and clear: Long gone are the days of integrity, its all about the money and don't you ever forget it.
