2014 World Cup - Round of 16 - Argentina vs Switzerland

Argentina 1 vs Switzerland 0 - "No team playing in the sweatbox of Manaus has won their next game, the Swiss just won there."

The Swiss kept that streak alive.  Messi did not get a hat trick as we predicted, much less a goal in regulation, but he did get the winner.

90 minutes came and went with many missed opportunities for La Albiceleste as Nati were watchlike and not making any mistakes.

The Swiss had a couple of missed opportunities in the 1st half which would come back to haunt them.

At 118' with a penalty shootout looming, the Swiss finally blinked as defender Lichtsteiner lost the ball near midfield, and Messi found himself with space to run.

Messi drove past two defenders to the edge of the box, then fed DiMaria on the right, who slotted the ball into the far corner with his left foot. See below.

2 minutes later Dzemaili went unmarked in the box to knock a header directly off the left post...

adding insult to injury... the ball ricocheted back off his body as he fell, only to roll harmlessly to the right of the goal.

Twice in the blink of an eye had Los Gauchos avoided a shootout as they move on to face the winner of Belgium/USA.
