2016 UEFA Euro Cup - Qualifying
For the first time, the UEFA European Championship will be contested by 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format used since 1996. 53 teams competed for 23 places, while host nation France automatically qualified.
From six groups of four, six 1st place, six 2nd place and 4 3rd place teams will qualify for the elimination round of 16. Our initial bracket follows, winners in bold.
2A - Switzerland
2C - Poland
1D - Spain
3F - Iceland
1B - England
3A - Romania
1F - Portugal
2E - Belgium
1C - Germany
3B - Wales
1E - Italy
2D - Croatia
1A - France
3D - Czech Rep
2B - Slovakia
2F - Hungary
We see back to back defending champions Spain reaching a third consecutive title game, but no three peat. Our sense is either Germany, France or Italy (repeat of 2012) will be waiting for Spain in the final. TBD and more to come.
