TATA to Detroit, Worlds Cheapest Car $2500
Got this from a Naybob today. "Check out TATA MOTORS for the new "Nano". Price $2500. Sounds like a car for our wives. What do you think?"
The Nattering One muses... The Tata Nano, a 4 door car that gets 55 mpg and costs $2500, the worlds cheapest car.
Sounds like a better mousetrap, sounds like its the car of the future, but the more important question is what does this INNOVATION prove?
Let alone the new car sales market share, just think of how many TWO WHEELERS will switch to this 4 wheel product?
Take data from here, and the chart from here, and the really good chart here .
Synopsis:
#1 USA 26% of oil consumption = 466 cars per 1000 persons
#4 China 6% = 10 cars per 1000 persons
#12 India 2.6% = 15 cars per 1000 persons
Which begs other questions, what happens when China & India get to 100 cars per 1000? Who will get them there? and how?
Not GM, Ford or Chrysler, whose mismanagement over the last 30 years has demonstrated beyond any doubt...
that they don't have any brains in their executive management teams and their stockholders are even bigger idiots.
What they do have is blue blooded, ivy league MBA, golf playin, trust fund, god fearin, frat boys, like our disgrace of a President Shrub Jr..
So, the only success they will have, is to collect a big paycheck, cut benefit entitlements, destroy the unions...
cut domestic jobs, run the company into the ground, and leave a BK mess for the public to cleanup. Its been done before, why should anything change?
Tata is negotiating with BIG LOSER #3 Ford (passed by Toyota last year as #2 in the US) to buy Jaguar & Land Rover.
The Nattering One thinks that greedy stupid American car makers who are in bed with the oil companies should be put out of business.
They have already outsourced our automotive industry to labor at the margin, using globalization as their excuse to remain competitive.
Instead of using innovation by building a better mousetrap, its always a generous helping of more of the same, cut, downsize, outsource, eliminate.
Personally I wouldn't hire these corporate clowns to wash my car, let alone design one.
They don't know how to CREATE, all they know is how to DESTROY, and that is the only thing they are good at.
Even the Japanese should take heed, take the Hybrid piece of shit Prius which gets 35 mpg and costs 30K. Who are they and Detroit fooling? You and I.
Anyone that doesn't start thinking, small, 50 mpg, compressed natural gas and under $20K should get out of the way and fast.
Do you think 2 billion in China and 1 billion in India, who are mostly drivin mopeds, can afford $30K gas guzzlin cars on the wages they get? NOPE.
Buy Tata and Fiat stock, its cheap right now. Fiat? Yeah...
Fiat and Tata started a joint venture in October of last year. The joint venture is developing a manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra.
The facility, which is expected to go upstream by May this year, would have a capacity to produce 200,000 cars and 300,000 engines and transmission systems.
Apart from the Fiat branded car, the plant would also manufacture the next generation Tata cars and provide engine and transmission assemblies to its Indian partner.
As a part of the agreement about 65 dealers of Tata Motors have already started selling Fiat brands.
