2014 NFL Predictions
After five weeks, better late than never.... excepting NFC Best, in order of finish.
AFC
LEAST
NE - Lacking O-line & D, not your typical Belichick team, but still good enough in a .500 division.
BUF - Schizoid with lots of potential. If they find D could pressure Pats, but which team is going to show up?
MIA - Incognito fallout, inconsistent D, too many turnovers, no discipline or leadership.
NYJ - The curse of the dynasty dog killer descends on Gotham, just not a good team and Ryan pays the price.
NORTH
CIN - Talent, ground game, passing game, D. Tougher schedule and bungling Marvin Lewis don't help.
BAL - Enough O, not the same intense D, Rice scandal hurt, Harbaugh holds it together for a late run.
PIT - A load of unrealized potential here, lacking magic spark, Big Ben and Tomlin just aren't enough.
CLE - 3rd most mismanaged team in the NFL, new owner no help, too many wasted drafts, Manziel could be bigger bust than Ryan Leaf. Should have traded down to fill needs.
SOUTH
IND - Post Manning, "Lucky" Colts started with good base and are a work in progress. Tougher schedule this year, need to find some D to go deeper in playoffs.
HOU - One bad year = + Clowney, -Schaub, great talent base, weak schedule rebound. Fitzpatrick? Meh, imagine what they could do with the Lion's backup QB?
TEN - Whisenhunt needs to clean house, at best a .500 team muddled in purpose and without chemistry. QB's Whitehurst? Locker? Go steal a Lombardi Trophy from the Lions.
JAX - 2nd most mismanaged team in NFL, should have grabbed known quantity Tebow 2 years back for hometown ticketsales. Some FLA college teams could beat the Jags.
WEST
SD - Steady all around improvement under McCoy, will take division if they find more D, run Matthews and Rivers makes less mistakes.
DEN - Elway wisely plugged holes with off season moves. Rebound from SB humiliation? History says no, but they may be the 90's Bills reincarnate. Oh no, not again.
KC - No surprises here, with last years easy schedule gone, they will sneak up on no one. Smith, Charles and Reid's playbook are way too predictable.
OAK - Most mismanaged team in NFL, 20+ years of idiotic drafts. Mgmt. can't get out of their own way. Need to re title: A Commitment to Odiferousness. High school powerhouse DeLaSalle could beat da Raiders.
NFC
LEAST
DAL - Plenty of Rom-O, if they find any D in Dallas, 9-7 will win this .500 division, but still a one and done.
PHI - Kelly's heroes have a lot of O, Foles still a work in progress. But there is no D in Philly, just the remnants of the dog killers dynasty.
NYG - Jekyll and Hyde QB and team, question is: who's showing up up this week? Coughlin's last stand, everybody has read the Book of Eli, pressure crumbles him.
WAS - 5th worst mismanagement, horrible decision making, needs to get over RG3 mistake where they should have traded down to fill needs. Just not a good team.
NORTH
GB - As Mr. Rodgers said, R-E-L-A-X, this is my neighborhood. He's right, when they control rock and find D look out.
DET - So deep in talent, how long with it take Caldwell to figure out Stafford will never pull this off. Their backup QB is best kept NFL secret.
CHI - Read above, ditto for Cutler and with Trestman making the calls, no one could, not even legend Montana.
MIN - Still rebuilding, No D and must find one fast as Bridgewater & Peterson won't be enough.
SOUTH
CAR - Tougher schedule, no surprises. They have D, but 1 dimensional O, Riverboat needs new playbook. But, they don't need a dome to win.
ATL - Weak schedule rebound, alot of O, with a little D they could make a run, if they can win outside a dome.
NO - Ditto on dome, lost what little D and ground game they had. Brees arm and Payton's brains won't be enough.
TB - 4th in mismanagement, Lovie won't make much difference. Man U. players would be an improvement, some EFL teams could beat the Bucs.
BEST
SEA - The legion of boom earned the target they are wearing. As defending SB champs, every week they are opponents SB. Its tough to repeat, can Carroll motivate them? Other than 1 dimensional O, no weakness.
SF - They keep banging their heads on the door, last year, one flag short of SB trophy. Need to change predictable O playbook, Kaepernick must run more and make less mistakes. Slow start has them on cruise control until Bowman and Smith return to D & O line injuries are cured.
ARZ - Last year Arians 10-6 group finished outside, not this year as the work in progress continues. Need to find pass D, more ground game and develop smashmouth attitude. They do host the 2015 SB.
STL - Fisher has a work in progress, without QB Bradford, going nowhere in footballs smashmouth division.

Super Bowl outlook: in a repeat of last year, the best football in both conferences is being played in the West. The winner of the NFC Best will probably win SB XLIX. The likelihood of all West conference championships and SB are high. i.e. SD vs DEN and SEA vs SF.
