NCAA 2014-15 CFP Championship - Recap

Done (39 games) finished at 22-17 (56%) ATS with our BOLD "locks" at 7-2 (77%). Please see original post for the pick'em result grid and the pre game Championship post for other notes.

Pick'em: I am taking Ohio State +7, and Oregon to win.
RESULT OHIO ST 42 - 20 OREGON

Select pre game notes: "The Buckeyes have 43 sacks with 24 picks and only allow 5.87 yds per pass attempt.  The high number of sacks; int ratio and low YPP means the Buckeyes put a lot of pressure on opposing QB's."

On 3rd down the Ducks converted 2 - 12 as they dropped 3 passes that would have been 1st downs and more. The Buckeyes defensive speed and pressure slowed the Ducks enough to disrupt their rhythm which kept them from converting 3rd downs and TD's (1 for 4 in the red zone). On the season , Super Mario 3rd down QBR 91.9; vs the Buckeyes D 4.9.

"If the Buckeye's balanced ball control offense can score and play keep away, while the defense slows down the Duck's, things could get interesting."

Ezekiel Elliot ran for 246 yds and 4 TD's as the Buckeye's dominated with balanced ball control: TOP OSU 37; ORE 22. OSU PASS 333 RUSH 296.

After the Ducks initial 11 play 75 yd TD drive, the Buckeye D put them in lockdown allowing 4.5 plays per drive on 13 drives yielding only 13 Oregon points.... a field goal resulted from a turnover in the Buckeye red zone and a TD resulted from a 70 yd TD pass.  In the remaining 11 drives the Ducks could only manage a field goal.  Think about it.

"Ohio State might not give the Ducks five turnovers like Florida State did. For what its worth TOM = Oregon +20; Ohio St +10; giving the Ducks an opportunistic advantage."

The Buckeyes dominated in such a fashion that they had the luxury of committing 4 turnovers; 3 drive killers on Oregon's side of the field; and 1 inside the Ohio State 20 which set up an Oregon FG.

On the other side, Super Mario threw one pick to end the game.  However, early in the 2nd, Oregon turned the ball over on downs at the Buckeye 2 yard line.  So you could consider the final TO tally: 4-2.  In either case: Ohio State won the game despite a TOM of -3 or -2; which is very impressive considering:

Since 2000, Div 1 teams committing 4 TO's while the opponent commits 1: 78-439 = 15% winners; 85% losers

Since 2000, Div 1 teams committing 4 TO's while the opponent commits 2: 119-326 = 26% winners; 74% losers

Final note: All this from the team (Ohio State) that the pollsters replaced TCU with at the last minute. I still feel for TCU and all those teams over the years that never got the chance to prove themselves by actually winning a legitimate championship on the field. Despite the much needed improvement through expansion to a four team playoff...

NCAA Mens Division 1 FBS Football is STILL the ONLY organized sport at any level, professional or amateur, on the planet, that does not have a legitimate and comprehensive playoff system to determine their "champion" on the field.

The question is: How and why can ALL other sports, including DIV II and III football have a comprehensive playoff system which determines a legitimate champion on the field, which somehow still mysteriously eludes DIV I NCAA Football?
