COVID19: In Memoriam?

We've Nattered about crowded environments, transmission, seasonal flu numbers, mortality rates, imagined vs real, the backdraft of draconian measures, predicted "superspreader" events, pigs in a poke, monetary policy, preexisting conditions, a lack of global leadership, social habits, cultures, mutation, second hand stupidity, unknown known's, things that seemingly come out of the blue, a collective tabula rasa, and all things Prisonerall of which have "conspired" in many ways to allow a mischievous Jinn out of it's bottle. Unlike others, this was not to infer that COVID19 is much ado about nothing.

Alex I'll take "poetic terms" for $200.  Trebek: Tennyson's "In Memoriam" is this 5-letter type of poem lamenting the death of a person
In memoriam is a Latin phrase equivalent to "in memory (of)", usually referring to remembering or honouring a deceased person.
A most hearty welcome to those whose tastes in social behavior lean toward the bizarre. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and tonight's offering is an illustrated memoriam of sorts. For things: past, present, to be, never forgotten, quickly forgotten  and hasty consequence thereof.  Please do enjoy and now picking up where The Prisoner? left off...
"Jane, you ignorant slut... "We the people" forgot the "we reserve the right" to refuse sign posted on the wall?... [Bad actors] should be arrested and charged [1st degree felony].  If only our... elected cocotte's were not a pack of eunuch's"
In Staten Island, store patrons gave a maskless miscreant the "business", bad actors were charged with bioterrorism, and perhaps "shoot them deadmethods are necessary for the adolescents who have no clue what a real lockdown means?  A member of Italian Chamber of Deputies; Sara Cunial attempts to lay blame at the "pearly" Gates. At least conspiracy theories are peaking?  Again, one must carefully separate the wheat from the chaff, i.e. take the best and leave the rest.  Moving West...
The Executive Office can only attempt to compel owners [to reopen]... either the infection rate in the plants and surrounding areas, or worse yet those rural states has doubled... one can estimate the depopulation by the YOY decline in slaughter rates
Answering Where's The Beef? Meat plant outbreaks are among the largest drivers of the recent eight fold growth in COVID-19 cases in rural America. An investigation which tracks by geo hotmap: "Counties with or near meatpacking plants have almost twice the rate of known COVID-19 infections as the national average."  The number of confirmed Tyson, Smithfield and JBS cases has gone from just over 3K to over 11K. One can track the status of 15,800 reported positive cases at 193 plants in 32 states, and 63 reported worker deaths by plant.  With slaughter house backlogs of 170K per day, it is now estimated that over 10M hogs will be depopulated. Bringing home the bacon? Since the 04/28 EO cases in meat packing states have increased anywhere from 2 to 4 fold. Doubling down?
"pander[ing] to a base mentality which is allowed to run wild... all the while forgetting ye shall reap as ye sow, and the outcome when the piper shows up for the post dance collection, can only be more tragedies of the commons."
Alex I'll take "The Great Depression" for $1000.  Trebek: 2nd stage of the New Deal focused on helping this "man at the bottom of the economic pyramid"

Above, NHS nurse Shirley Watts made an emotional appeal to the public to observe lockdown measures. In a video filmed between two ICU shifts, she said the coronavirus crisis had left the NHS "on our knees" and "we are struggling".

Above, Melissa Steiner a Michigan ICU Nurse pled with the public after working 13 hrs treating 2 critically ill COVID patients on the vent by herself.  "It honestly felt like I was working in a war zone...I'm already breaking so people please take this seriously."

Above, ER Nurse Pamela Orlando worked to treat coronavirus patients until she became one herself, and then documented her fight with the virus until she died on April 16.

Mike Schultz a Baghdad by The Bay nurse, shares the effect of his five weeks on a ventilator. Mary MacDonald a Michigan ER nurse:‘If you had asked me 10+ days ago if I thought that this was gonna get as bad as it was, I would have told you no,’ 02:12 "this is truly scary and nobody is taking it seriously I want to jump through my phone and strangle people that are on the beach or out with their friends still like they just"... don't care of have quickly forgotten?  Speaking of which...
Alex let's try "accounting methods" for $1000. This method allows income to be reported when it is earned, not received, and expenses to be reported when incurred, not paid.

Above, Americans appeared to abandon social distancing guidelines as they sunbathed on beaches, gathered for pool parties, crowded malls and boardwalks on Memorial Day weekend. Despite a global 5.5M cases, 350K deaths with US deaths accounting for 100K, many revellers dismissed any safety concerns to celebrate.  Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving. All gave some, some gave all. We don't know them all, but we owe them all.
Coming full circle in our theme, and apropos title, we think... re: Covid; In memoriam for the victims, those who served, continue to do so, and have died so that others might not, none of which shall ever be forgot. As for that which many hope to die, never believed to exist, have chosen to ignore as a lie, or quickly forgotten, yet does not cease nor desist... there is no memoriam, only a delinquent bill of negligent forgetfulness whose accrual eventually calls for payment in a most particular currency.

Answering Trebeks 2nd query: What is an accrual? 3rd query: What is the Forgotten Man? and initial query: What is an elegy? A poem of serious reflection, typically a lament for the dead.  Case in point tonight's bill of fare, where the currency is the collateral damage of those yet to die?  As to moving pictures of crowds packed like sardines, considering what has been, still is and could be, bizarre social behavior is understatement. Worth one thousand words?  Not in the least, but for our illustrative purposes perhaps just four...

Be well, more to come in COVID19: Equanimity For Emmett Till? Stay tuned, no flippin.
