Last Time Out
Monetary policy is just one form of policy that effects capital, investment, jobs, wages, spending, asset bubbles and your standard of living. When any policy decision is based in false doctrine, you get distortions which can affect every facet of life. - The President's Analyst?
Weak productivity is symptomatic of a much larger problem. As for the illusion of rising wages, meaningful wage increases have not occurred in decades. The proof in that pudding can be found in one chart where both personal income and spending growth are in a steady 36 YEAR downtrend. Mary Tyler Moore?
Due to monetary policy effects, some might be attempting to make up the difference between their wages and the cost of living in the markets.  In chasing that elusive bag and buried market treasure, our theme for tonight's missive turns to a legendary character in an apropos plot...
Sinbad The Sailor? (1947)
In one of the few post war RKO films to turn a nice profit, Sinbad The Sailor (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) spins a yarn of his 8th voyage in search of an island not on the map, where Alexander the Great allegedly hid his immense plundered treasure.
The film has been noted for its lavish production values, including detailed paintings and models, and for its florid pseudo Arabian dialogue. The city of Basra and the legendary island of Deryabar, are the backdrop for this fictional fantasy which combines elements of faith, fact and forgery.

Richard Wallace directed this swashbuckler set during the rule of Caliph Harun Al-Rashid in medieval (8th-9th century) Persia, where flowers of Samarkand were highly coveted.
Splendiferous Technicolor brings to life the eye-popping red hair of the incredibly gorgeous Maureen O'Hara who plays the feisty Princess of the Kurds, Shireen; "I could make Sheba look like a frump." As the spouse shopping Princess mistakes Sinbad for a wealthy Prince because of the medallion he's wearing, she hatches a secret plan to get him to lead her to Alexander's treasure.
In the ensuing charade, despite resembling a forgery of prince hood, Sinbad who has worn this medal all his life, even convinces himself that he is Prince Ahmed of Deryabar, the heir of Alexanders hidden treasure.
Other treasure seekers include a young Anthony Quinn as the villainous Emir Maffi of Daibul; Walter Slezak as the obsessive, seemingly incompetent and duplicitous green skinned barber Abdul Melik; George Tobias (the timid Abbu) and Mike Mazurki (Yusef, the big man) as two of Sinbad's faithful seamen; Sheldon Leonard (an auctioneer sans Brooklyn accent); Jane Greer (Shireen's harem confidant Pirouze); and Alan Napier (later known as TV Batman's Alfred the Butler) as Aga.
Every character in this film has an agenda and attempts to use the other characters to achieve it.  In a surprise ending replete with twist, the Emir's villainy is only matched by ethereal evil of the seemingly invisible spirit Jamal; "faceless, formless, like a genie from a jug"; karmic fate strikes strange bedfellows united through greed; while others discover the real treasure to be found in this life. An intro indeed Effendi...
Some QuickLogic?
You can't control what you can't measure. - Tom DeMarco
Regarding Quicklogic, in October when QUIK was at 0.75 cents our friend Albo provided some background information, and by year end Quik had doubled to 1.50. Since their IPO on 10/15/99, many investors know that Quik have been a wild magic carpet ride, which oft pulls up lame down the stretch.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a very exciting night for us, in staying with our theme, we have a great visitor from the East, the famous seer, sage, all knowing, all seeing, all efficient, and former master of ceremonies at a House Of Pies, please welcome Carnac the Magnificent...

Much like the venerable Carnac, Albo got our curiosity with his long shot tenacity, and with the 2 day, Oct 7-8th +33% surge to 2.17, Quik has earned our attention. Carnac might say: Describe the sound made when a sheep explodes... Sis Boom Bah!
