Paradigm Shift? Digital Currency 9 - Social Amnesia?

But we digress, more on that excerpt:

"Anyone old enough to have experienced the catastrophic 80’s first hand knows what is around the bend. In the 80’s, we became experts on how to make money without producing any tangible products. Mergers, acquisition’s, leveraged buy-outs, junk bonds, Milken, DeLorean and Keating,  manufacturing sector contraction, service sector growth, no RandD spending and... escalating real estate costs all contributed to the "trickle down" voodoo economics.
All the harbingers for another collapse are on the horizon. Speculative investing in a stock market totally lacking in fundamental values. Greedy, immature yuppies bidding up property prices, questionable hiring practices and corporate behavior... coupled with wholesale avoidance and ignorance of fundamental societal problems which beg to be addressed."

Much like the 80's and early in this millenia, today's stock market valuations are not based upon fundamentals, rather multiples expansion....
80% of the SP500 growth during 2013 was driven by P/E multiple expansion rather than higher earnings.  This same trend continues in Q2 2014 as 95% of the growth is attributed to P/E multiple expansion.
Ahem, what exactly is P/E multiple expansion? P/E multiplier expansion is by definition "the expanding hope of future growth and revenues".

Whoa, you mean the term that refers to all this "growth" is based upon smoke and mirrors which may or may not occur?  Yep. Thank you Durden.

Many a time in these pages we have opined on the falsehood and total disconnect of real estate market valuations and the societal cost.

Even though we are seeing a redux of RE bubble, we need not pull that soapbox out again.

In any event, is this a case of social amnesia?  Did everybody forget what just happened in 2004 - 2011?

A global MBS nightmare, liquidity squeeze, and systemic bankruptcy...

and despite a "recovery" which has been worse than the "Great Depression", which is now being called the "Great Recession"?

I guess so, have a look at this "No Revenue, No Assets Company Up Over $1 Billion (+110%) Today On 57K Shares Traded."  WUCK? Thank you again, Zero Hedge.

Barnum was right, when will they learn?  More to come, as we put the soapbox away and get back on the right track...

on the morrow or Monday, with a scintillating multi part finale to this missive, a real blast from the past.
