2017 NFL Divisional Playoff Results Against The Spread

Results For Divisional Playoffs

How did we do? After laying a 2-2 SU; 1-3 ATS Wildcard egg (counting the JAX -7 push), we hailed a Divisional Buffalo Right 7 Heaven at 3-1 ATS; 2-2 SU; with lox 1-1.

We celebrated our regular season finishing 5 games ahead of the nearest expert with a record of 146-103-7; lox 48-28-2. Adjusting for the push, post season 3-4-1 ATS; 4-4 SU, YTD 149-107-8 with lox at 49-29-2.

At 6-2 ATS post season, the only one who can catch us at 147-109-7 is the respectable  Case Keefer at the Las Vegas Sun. Hangin by a thread with 3 games left, what's new Pussycat?

ATL PK 10 @ 15 PHI LOCK Our prognostication? One and done... a Paper Lion D? What happens if somebody holds the rock and gets ahead of PHI?

We eat crow or bird of prey? The Dirty Birds could not hold the rock, nor the lead. A fairly even defensive game in which, much like the Rams, the Philly birds of prey spotted the Falcons 10 points on two turnovers. Trailing 10-9 at the half on a missed PAT, as the Eagle D shutout the Falcons in the 2nd half, Foles held his own on 2 long FG drives to win.

Eagles TOP 32:06 vs 27:54 on 63 plays vs 59; 3DC 6-13 vs 4-13; RZC both 1-3. 2nd half TOP 16:44 for 169yds vs 13:16 for 123yds. The Eagles passed more efficiently 7.7 vs 5.0 yds and the Falcons ran more efficiently 4.3 vs 3.0 yds per att. Eagles 2 TO's vs zero.

With 1:05 remaining, 1st and goal at the Eagle nine, rather than attempt to run the ball, Quinn opted to pass on four straight downs, ending in the only 4DC failure of the game. The Cheese Steaks become the 2nd fortunate team with -2 TOM to advance in these playoffs. Eagles fans should count their blessings, and give thanks for questionable coaching tendencies, and their D.

TEN 14 @ 35 NE -13 This week, the opponents all pro TE will not go down, and no zeal of Zebras will materialize to rescue the Tuxes. Double down, 1st half of Chefs game, a 21-3 Paper Lion Tuxes deficit, should be duplicated in both halves of this game.

No injuries, Elvis like 2nd half exits or official bail outs this week, as the Tuxes were summarily dismissed.
The Pats were down 7 at the end of the 1st quarter, setting up a perfect storm.

But only for those willing to accept Patriot 1st half (21-7), 2nd half (14-7) and remaining game spreads, as in Q2, the Krakken was unleashed 35-7, until a cheap garbage time TD for the Tuxes.

A dominant performance by Brady + McDaniel's O: 438 net, 101 rush, 31 1stD, 3DC 11-17, RZC 5-5, and Belichick + Patricia's D:  267 net, 65 rush, 15 1stD, 3DC 5-15; Sacks 8.  Next week, a real defense with a running game shows up in Foxboro.

JAX +9 45 @ 42 PIT Our prognostication? The JimmyG9ers hung 44 and 3TO's on the Shags with less talent. If you can't score, you can't win, but it won't be the Riveters not scoring. Shags Paper Lion O. Big Ben and Riveters O hold the rock, +350yds, no TO's, no pick 6's = W, but given the Shag D has improved since Wk5, -9 might be asking a bit much.

As for the Shags O, we eat crow or wild cat? The Shags clawed, stunned and pounced on the Riveters with a 21-0 Q1 lead and with 2:20 left in the 1st half 28-7. The Riveters hung 42 pts, albeit 7 in garbage, on the Shags. Perhaps Tomlin should have had the JimmyG9ers playing in their uniforms?

3DC 8-14, 378 net, 164 rush, RZ 5-5; Goal line 3-3. What D? 545 net, 83 rush, 28 1stD, 3DC 7-16. We knew 9 was too much, but the Riveters did not heed our formula for success. 2 TO's, 1 fumble ret for TD, 1 int, 2 turn overs on downs via coaching tendencies lacking common sense, viz passing when you should be running.

All the above resulting in +14 Shag pts, -6 to -14 Riveter pts, and another sloppy -2 TOM team finishing outside.  Tomlin on the play call when the  goal line pass was picked off by the Pats: "We play to win".  Forgetting then and obviously in this tilt, sure thing, but when you play sloppy, stupid and undisciplined you lose. Just ask Clueless Lewis and Bengal fans about 15 years of that recurring pattern. Putting the soap box away, and Moving West...

NO 24 @ 29 MIN -3.5  LOCK  Our prognostication? A hard fought close game. The Vikes #1D is the same if not better than Wk1, if they stop the improved Halo run game, and prevent big plays, longer time on the field will make the Halo middlin #15D Paper Lion pedestrian.

OMG... it was hard fought and close, with four lead changes in the last three minutes and redemption for the 1975 Divisional Cowboy - Viking, Staubach to Pearson Hail Mary?

In building a 17-0 halftime lead, the Norsemen D forced 2 TO's and held the Halos to 3DC 2-9, their first with 20 mins to go, 80 yds rushing, 26 mins TOP. The Vikes 3DC 10-17, net 403, rush 95 and both teams missed long FG's.

In the 24-12 Halos 2nd half rally, 1 ill advised int, 1 blocked punt, and a sack on 3rd and short, putting the Vikes out of FG range, returned all the Halo's 1st half favors. This negated the Vikes defensive prowess with the Halos cashing in for 14 pts on a short field.

As for the Keenum Diggs Williams OMG, in his effort to not interfere, or not push Diggs out of bounds, Williams missed tackling Diggs in bounds. It was his deept zone, his man, perhaps his angle of pursuit made him think twice, but he knew he was the last line of defense.

In any event, what will be known as: 61yd Minneapolis Miracle, Miracle in Minnesota, Skol Mary, Big Digg, Case and The Ace or Stone Skol Stunner, was not a desperation heave into the end zone, therefore, not a hail mary.

But it does bring to mind fantastic finishes such as: the Holy Roller, the Music City Miracle, The Catch, The Drive, The Fumble and The Immaculate Reception, amongst others...
