Rose Bowl Update

The Texas Longhorns ended USC's 34 game winning streak and attempted three peat by winning the Rose Bowl 41-38.

Despite 4 fumbles, a missed point after and field goal the Longhorns managed to upset the Trojans with the Vince Young show.

The Trojans punted once in the game, but managed to cook their own goose. Rather than blitz and pressure Young, Pete Carrol opted to play a loose zone and prevent defense most of the game.

In the first half, the Trojans were stopped on downs at the Texas 16, Leinert threw an interception at the Texas goal line, and Reggie Bush threw an ill advised lateral which resulted in a fumble at the Texas 16.

Despite the poor first half performance which left USC trailing 16-10 at the half, with under 7 minutes left, the Trojans led 38-26 and had outscored Texas 28-10 in the second half.

In the final 6:30 as the Trojans took a dirt nap by playing the same prevent zone, the Vince Young show rang up two 70 yard drives for touchdowns, the last with 19 seconds remaining.

Texas wins their 4th National Championship and 1st since 1970. 79 points put the game over for total points with Texas beating the spread in both halves, for the game, and winning outright.

We thought this would be close at the half with USC pulling away in the second half for an easy win, and it looked that way until the last 6:30, we stand corrected as Vince Young proved to be a one man three peat wrecking crew.
