After the Bell: Juniper, Texas Instruments

Shares of fabless semiconductor co. Applied Micro Circuits (AMCC) -20% on announcing that revenues declined in all business lines and sales to distributors were down 30% sequentially.

Forward guidance anticipates another 15% sequential decline in revenue.

Last week, Continental Airlines warned that it expects yields — a measure of average ticket prices — to decline this quarter, while Southwest Airlines said it expected second-quarter unit revenue to be down from the previous year.

Today, #3 US Airline Delta about to exit BK, reported a loss of $130M vs $2.1 B Yoy. Operating revenues +8.7% on higher fares.

Flecks latest... "Let's remember that these (LBO's) are leveraged buyouts, meaning these are being done with borrowed money. This recent name change to "private equity" is just putting lipstick on a pig.

...operators in the LBO world seem keen to IPO themselves because they can see that valuations are so stupid.

Thus, they're in the process of trying to have it both ways: getting paid huge fees to take companies private, while preparing to take themselves public based on their huge fee income.

Tuesday had the flavor of March 2000... Housing stocks rejoiced over the news that housing starts were a tad better than expected.
