NFL Super Bowl XLII
Playoffs 5-5 ATS & 6-4 SU: Championship Week: 1-1 SU & ATS: SD 12 (+14) @ NE 21; NYG 23 @ GB 20 (-7)
Shocked that both road dogs won ATS and 1 SU in the championship week. In these playoffs, road dogs SU 5-5 ATS 7-3.
Last week, the GMen proved us wrong and won the game with the run, on the frozen tundra, in the trenches. NYG rushed for 134yds, and held GB to 28; TOP NYG 40; GB 22.
The Bolts anemic passing game hit the Pats secondary for 211 yds while NE QB Brady layed an egg with 3 ints as Diego put up a dog fight.
If QB Rivers is healthy, he does'nt throw 2 ints, and if RB Tomlinson is healthy, the Bolts convert in the red zone...
(4 FG's; 3 possessions 1st and goal), and its not the Patriots playing this week in XLII.
Also, If "if's & but's" were candy & nuts, it would be Xmas every day.
Super Bowl XLII
#1 NE Patriots #1 offense (#1 pass; #13 run); #4 defense (#6 pass, #10 run) #2 in sacks.
Patriots 18-0, but struggled to win down the stretch 7 of last 8, did not cover ATS 8 of last 10.
#5 NY Giants, #16 offense (#21 pass, #4 run); #7 defense (#11 pass, #8 run) #1 in sacks.
Giants started 0-2, since 13-4; 10-1 on road, only road loss at Dallas opening day, 3 straight road playoff wins (ala 2005 Champs #5 seed Pittsburgh Steelers).
Gmen can control the ball and clock. Last 3 away, Gmen rushing for 138 ypg & 4.4 per carry, NE allowing 104 ypg & 4.5 ypc. Week 16 vs NE 80 yards on 18 att.
NE RB Maroney has run for 100+ in 4 of 5, the exception at NYG, held to anemic 46 yds on 19 atts.
Pats will have trouble running. Last 3 away, NYG rush D 83ypg 3.6ypc; NE rushing for 83 ypg 3.3 ypc.
Gmen can convert and hold NE in red zone. Last 3 Away red zone Gmen 63% vs NE D 87%; NE 80% vs Gmen D 62%.
On road ATS vs team with winning record, NYG 7-0; last 8 NE 1-7 ATS. Last NYG loss, at home...
Week 16 to Pats 38-35, a game which the Gmen controlled and led 28-16 midway through the 3rd.
2 questionable penalties, a blown CB coverage, and 1 interception kept the Gmen from ruining the perfect season.
This was a game which the Gmen played "loose" because they had nothing to lose. This is the Super Bowl, and they have everything to lose.
Eli Manning has been a world beater 4 straight weeks. Will the real Eli stand up this Sunday? If so, its a Patriot blow out of epic proportion.
On the other hand, Brady is like Montana on this stage, confident, in control and cool as a chilled cucumber. He should get his 4th ring and a place in history at 19-0.
The Gmen have a punchers chance to win, and the Pats have not been covering, so it should be a close one... Pick NYG 24 (+12.5) vs NE 28 AND UNDER 55
