I would hope that most everyone is aware of the infamous 1938-45 Nazi Holocaust which claimed 6 million Jews, 6 million Poles and 5 million “enemies of the state; and the well publicized 1992-95 Bosnia-Herzogovinia "ethnic cleansing" which claimed 200,000 muslims and displaced 2 million. But, did you know?
Ireland: The 1840's potato famine claimed 3 million Irish. To this day, many Irish insist that there never was a “famine” and that England exploited the situation to decimate the islands rebellious population.
Turkey: The 1915 genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Young Turk regime claimed 1.5 million Christian Armenians and displaced 500,000.
China: The 1937 Japanese Invasion of China claimed 300,000 Chinese in the city of Nanking alone.
Russia: Stalins 1932-38 purges claimed 200,000 Jews, 5 million Ukrainians, 15 million Soviet peasants, and 3 million "enemies of the state".
Indonesia and East Timor: In 1967, the Indonesian Army claimed 500,000 “communist” Indonesians. In 1999, the Indonesians invaded East Timor and to date have claimed 300,000 East Timorians (33% of the islands population).
Cambodia: The 1975-79 killing fields of Pol Pot’s Khymer Rouge claimed 3 million Cambodians.
Rwanda: The 1993-94 Hutu led genocide claimed 1 million Tutsi’s (10% of the population) and displaced 2 million.
Sudan: From 1983 till today, the Arab Muslim led genocide has claimed 2 million non-Muslims and displaced 5 million. In the last two years, 200,000 non-Muslim’s in the Darfur provinces have been claimed.
