Sports Time Update

MLB

The playoffs are shaping up as expected. The Cardinals are in the NLCS as predicted, facing a surprising Houston team. Could this be another wild card World Series Champion? The Strohs are hot, but we still like the Cards to take care of business.

The Indians choked allowing the Red Sox to back into the playoffs, and it showed. The White Sox made it to the ALCS as predicted to face the Angels. The Angels are no surprise showing some of their previous championship form.

The Yanks and Red Sox did not have the pitching, and that wins championships. We still like the White Sox to go all the way and beat the Cardinals in seven.

College Football

As expected, the mighty SoCal Brainsurgeons keep chugging along with 27 consecutive victories. Their tests will be at Cal, at the Golden Domers (Notre Dame) and finally against UCLA.

As noted previously in this blog, UCLA will have something to say about the National Championship, they knocked Cal out of the running this week and could knock out the Trojans, time will tell.

Meanwhile, USC, UCLA, Texas, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, Penn State and Texas Tech are all in the running sporting undefeated records.

UCLA, Penn State & Florida State have a good shot. Virginia Tech, Georgia and Alabama will probably not survive conference play.

As Texas plays the Crippled Sisters of the Elderly 12 times this year, they have the best chance of being this years sacrificial lamb in the BCS (Bullshit Championship Series) Title game.

Bare in mind, Texas Tech could knock off Texas giving Penn State or Florida State the #2 position. We still envision USC vs. Texas and it will be another blowout.

NFL

Things are shaping up more or less as predicted. In the NFC, Atlanta or Tampa Bay (sporting a defense once again) look to be the leaders. Philly, Seattle, Carolina, Dallas & NY Giants are in the running. Chicago has disappointed and Washington has surprised.

In the AFC, the Indianapolis Colts are in the drivers seat. Pittsburgh, New England, Jacksonville and Denver are in the running. Cincinnati has surprised (we predicted wild card, they could win the division), KC, Buffalo & NY Jets have disappointed.

Stingy defenses of note, after 5 games played, Tampa Bay has allowed 59 points, Cincinnati has allowed 61 points and Indy has allowed 29 points.

Yeah, the Colts are the lone undefeated team and have allowed less than 6 points a game to be scored against them. As previously noted in this blog, "If the Patriots stumble, Indianapolis and Peyton Manning finally get their moment".

We now think the Colts moment is nigh, if they avoid injuries and keep playing stout defense, nothing will stop them, except themselves. We now favor the Colts (rather than the Patriots) to win against Atlanta or Tampa Bay in the Stupor Bowl.
