Mandalay Bay Massacre: A Perfectly Senseless Act?

Once again, not to be mistaken for Tuesday's With Morrie, it's Tuesdays With Trump...

A follow up on our coverage of the Mandalay Bay Massacre, here and here.

American Jihad?

America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?
Below, American born al-Qaeda spokesmen Adam Yahiye Gadahn aka "Jihad Joe" urges terrorist group followers to exploit easy access to assault weapons.

If everyday Joe Six Packs and Apple Pie Mom's can do it, why can't Muslim or American Jihadists?  Especially when there's little to nothing stopping them?  Food for thought.

I Don't Like Mondays?

On August 1st, 1966, 25 year old Charles Joseph Whitman, from atop the Main Building tower at the University of Texas at Austin, opened fire on persons indiscriminately. Over the next 96 minutes he shot and killed 15 people including one unborn child and injured 31 others.

On January 29th, 1979, 16 year old Brenda Ann Spencer, fired at children in a school playground at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, killing 2 adults and injuring 8 children and one police officer.

After hearing of Spencer's shooting spree, in which she showed no remorse for her crime and her full explanation for her actions was...

"I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day"...
Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats wrote the hit song "I Don't Like Mondays".

Geldof explained how he wrote the song:

I was doing a radio interview in Atlanta with [Johnnie] Fingers and there was a telex machine beside me. I read it as it came out. Not liking Mondays as a reason for doing somebody in is a bit strange. I was thinking about it on the way back to the hotel and I just said 'Silicon chip inside her head had switched to overload'. I wrote that down. And the journalists interviewing her said, 'Tell me why?' It was such a senseless act. It was the perfect senseless act and this was the perfect senseless reason for doing it. So perhaps I wrote the perfect senseless song to illustrate it. It wasn't an attempt to exploit tragedy.
The Ends Justify The Means?

Above, one can easily see there are 30 million reasons why POTUS won't do anything to rankle the NRA, who spent $20M opposing Clinton and $10M supporting Trump.

Trump became the 1st President since Reagan to address the NRA Convention in April 2017....

"You came through for me, I am going to come through for you."
In 2015, the 36252 deaths from firearms in the US, exceeded the number of deaths from motor vehicle traffic crashes 36161. For further details see A Public Health Crisis - JAMA

In 2015, 60.7% of the gun deaths in the US were suicides. In suicidal deaths, guns are 90% effective, whereas ingestion of pills or wrist cutting are successful only 10% of the time.

With regarding to ends and means, in suicide you have a 90% chance of survival with a black pill, there is no second chance with a gun.

Perfectly Senseless?

Paddock's perfectly senseless act which was committed with guns, and followed by his planned suicide which was anything but painless....

Took the lives of 58 innocent bystanders at a concert, while injuring over 590 others. Dozens are still hospitalized while 31 remain in critical condition.

Needless to say, the ever growing list of perfectly senseless act's is long.  Speaking of which, during his 2016 campaign....

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and not lose any voters."

Looks like somebody just stood on the 32nd floor of the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay and shot somebody, and didn't lose any voters either.

When and more germane, how do we put a stop to the perfectly senseless acts?  I don't know, but I'll tell you... will this suicide bring on many changes?

For those unfortunate innocents, and their families who could not "take or leave it as they please", RIP and our deepest heartfelt condolences.
