University Of Michigan/Reuters Consumer Confidence

Speaking of CON-fidence... University of Michigan Confidence survey fell to 63.2 from 69.5, the lowest reading since March 1982.

Consumers are less than ebullient with the loss of 232,000 jobs so far this year, along with higher food and energy costs and overall weakening in the economy.

Brian Bethune, director of financial economics at Global Insight:

"They've got higher energy bills, higher gasoline bills, higher food bills and obviously the employment markets are nowhere near as strong as they were.

The economy is in a recession
." The Nattering One muses... The Fed should take note, this Bethune guy may be on to something...
