The Blind Acceptance of Literalist's

Over at a financial forum...

P - "It's amazing to me that the constant repetition of a lie, rather than damning the liars, ends up being accepted by those that follow them as the truth to the point where they no longer believe the actual truth."

For thousands of years people were sure that the earth was flat and at the center of the universe. It's not, and an astronomer who still believed that it was, and to prove as such, could make some false observations.  Sometimes the ideas that we THINK we KNOW to be true are dead wrong. But that is the problem with blind acceptance...

P - "Florida's Supreme Court Ruled in Gore's favor and it was the SCOTUS that upheld BUSH's appeal to overturn Florida's ruling and have the bogus election stand, thus dooming the United States to the worst 8-year period in its history."

In 2000, voter suppression strategies played a large part in Shrub's "election" heist including broken polling machines, inaccurate and incomplete voter registration lists, inadequate language translation, inaccessible polling places, poorly trained poll workers and an overall unpreparedness for a large voter turnout that created long lines, resulting in discouraged voters electing not to turn out for the vote or abandoning long lines, eligible voters being turned away, and valid votes being left uncounted.

In particular Florida's long voter lines, played a major part and were in fact invoked again in the 2012 election while discouraging 212K voters. BTW, the SCOTUS 5-4 per curiam decision which consigned the modern world to the fallout of bad choices, was UNSIGNED and has NEVER been cited in a majority opinion since it was decided in 2000, and for good reason.

That anyone of supposed sound mind (To wit, Justices Kennedy, O'Connor, Rehnquist, Scalia and Thomas) would read "legislature" in the US Constitution to prevent a state supreme court (Florida) from interpreting the meaning and scope of legislative election statutes, was and is ludicrous in the extreme.  In the service of political causes, mindless "literal" interpretations by bought and paid for judiciary are nothing new and quite pernicious at all levels. Rather than whores on the hill in suits, just hookers on the bench or dais, cloaked in robes. The aforementioned blind acceptance or faith in the judiciary, which cloaks itself in the "blindness of justice" hath "literally" screwed us. Out.
