Only the 5th time in 53 years? Championship Sundays winners join a select group: 1966 - GB, KC; 1993 - BUF, DAL; 1998 - DEN, GB; 2013 - BAL, SF; 2019 - NE, LAR

What do they all have in common? In those years, BOTH road teams won the conference championship games.

Championship Sunday: Winners underlined in BOLD, PUSH noted.

Sunday 15:05 EST FOX O/U 57

LAR 26 @ 23 NO
Highlights
Pick: LAR +3.5
We expect both teams to run, pass and the defenses to stand up in what could be a lower than expected scoring game.
Both D's stood up as the Rams had 77yds on 26 carries, while the Pietists were held to 48yds on 21 carries. Closing in the red zone was at a premium, LAR 2-4 with 4FG's, NO 2-5 with 3FG's.
NO has the #3 home RunD @ 72ypg for a reason, why run when you can pass, as they have a matador PassD 288ypg #31 at home.  Since Week 13 QB's passing vs NO: 49% success; 93.4 rating; 10TD, 4int, #17 pass defense in the NFL.  Perhaps tonic for Goff?
Goff got his medicine in the form of 25 of 40 for 297yds with 1 int and a 83 rating.  Nothing spectacular but enough to get the job done against a porous Saint secondary.

Zebra taint? A 3rd down defensive pass interference non call at 1:49 remaining which prevented the Pietists from running down the clock to kick a winning FG, could have been interpreted as instrumental in the Rams victory.  Upon further review...

After trailing 13-0 on the road in the 1st quarter, the Ram O ramped up while the D clamped down.  In dominating fashion the Rams outscored the Big Easy Pietists 26-10, while holding them to 6 first downs and a total of 169yds over the final 45 minutes and OT.  More on said Zebra taint on the morrow.

Sunday 18:40 EST CBS O/U 57

NE 37 @ 31 KC
Highlights
Pick: NE +3.5
Since the MNF 5TO loss to the Rams, 6 games during which the KC pass D has allowed only 214ypg. This is because opponents did not have to pass, as the run D had been matador-like allowing avg 151ypg.
The Minutemen gashed the Chefs for 176yds on 48 carries.
All four teams with 150yd+ rushing against NE, excepting HOU Wk 1, registered wins. The poorly coached Bolts did not exploit this weakness, will Reid's Chefs?
The Chefs fell in a early 14-0 hole, which could easily have been 21-0, and only managed 41yds on 12 carries.  Once again bearing out the 20 carry minimum maxim...
Those who choose to ignore this maxim, or cannot execute were a collective 11-106-1 or 97% losers.
How did the Pats err? A Q1 pass on 3rd and goal from the one? in which Josh McDaniels was possessed by Pete Carroll, resulting in a 7pt swing.  A Q4 9 play 51yd 5:18 drive ending with a TO on downs at the KC 25. A Q4 pick coming through Edelman's hands, which was karmic justice for the non call on his punt muff two plays earlier.

Zebra taint? Said -2 TOM and 7 point swing meant a game which appeared closer than it was, and the Minutemen might need a little help from their friends?  Said assist was in the form of a phantom 15yd "heavy breathing" on Brady penalty which ultimately garnered a mid 4Q TD to help the Pats make history.
Pressure will be at a premium this week as Brady is well protected only being sacked 21 times.
Ma-Homes was sacked four times, as the Patriots held the Chefs scoreless in the 1st half on 37 yds total offense and three 1st downs. Meanwhile, Brady was untouched and Belichick's Boyz dominated this game in every phase.  1st Downs 36-18; 3rd Downs 13-19; plays 94-47; total yds 524-290; TOP 44-21 minutes.  More on said dirty laundry on the morrow.
