H2 - Oh!

The Dow Jones US Water Index is up 18.6 percent over the past year. And there is a race to capture market share among municipalities, multinational concerns and US industrial corporations to get in on the water industry's growth.

About 700 million people in China drink unprocessed water. The result is health-related problems culminating in a factory worker absentee rate of 30 percent.

The world population is growing at a rate of 1.3 percent per year, according to the Population Resource Center in Washington, DC. One of the most immediate effects is health and the environment. With over 60 percent of the world's population living in Asia, and 13 percent in Africa, there is heightened concern about water.

Without conscious consumption of water we drink, the air we breathe, the food we eat, that population trend may reverse. Such a Malthusian remedy can be avoided through a little bit of awareness.
