GM, Wal Mart & A SOOHEY PIG PIG!!!
Todays SOOHEY, PIG, PIG!! award goes to Wal-Mart which is facing a $172 million judgment awarded to thousands of employees who claimed they were illegally denied lunch breaks. A jury on Thursday found the world's largest retailer violated a 2001 state law that requires employers to give 30-minute, unpaid lunch breaks to employees who work at least six hours.
30 years ago what was good for GM was good for America, decent paying union jobs, benefits and a solid manufacturing base. Its bad enough the Wal Mart business model and consumer stupidity has eradicated the US small business and manufacturing base. Now by denying a lunch, their trying to squeeze blood out of the wage monkeys and cringing underlings who already have McJobs with low wages and no benefits??
This might fly at a high tech sweat shop given the higher pay levels, but not at Wal Mart. Boy have times have changed as GM is on the verge of BK, and whats good for the Beast of Bentonville (Wal Mart) is seemingly not good for America.
