Dow Jones Industrial Average

The DJIA is comprised of 30 of the largest (large cap), most widely-held stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange. DJIA is neither cap weighted nor equal weighted, it's weighted by stock price. In price based weighting, the weight of each security is the stock's price relative to the sum of all the stock prices. i.e. The higher priced stocks are given a greater weighting in the index than lower priced stocks, regardless of company size.
